Julia Orayen, who posed for Playb*y in 2008, handed out cards at the Presidential debate in Mexico. Her appearance got so much attention Twitter was on fire causing her to pickup 7,000 followers in just hours after the debate. A newspaper even declared her the winner of the debate, which angered the Federal Electoral Institute (IFE) who said all the attention a card carryer was getting undermined the “seriousness of the debate.” The IFE later apologized in a statement for the “production error associated with the dress of an assistant.”
No apology necessary. This is the first time I believe anyone outside of Mexico even knew they held Presidential elections, and it probably helped people in Mexico pay attention for the first time too. This only helped raise the level of politics in Mexico. If Julia ran for President she would probably win, and that is what offended the elite in Mexico who are pulling all the strings. If I lived in Mexico I’d vote for her.
